Background

Jane Green MBE is an educationalist and entrepreneur dedicated to transforming lives through her work in neurodivergence and hypermobility, brain/body connections.

Growing up, Jane faced frequent injuries and pain, was misunderstood at school, situational mute and left early with just two qualifications considered dim and a hypochondriac. Later, as a single parent and carer to two children, one with multiple neurodivergent diagnoses, she self-studied while working as a teaching assistant as her eldest kept being excluded.

Jane became a professional Secondary teacher, later Special Needs, primary as Local Advisory Teacher for Autism, ADHD, and Dyspraxia, Autism Accreditation Assessor for the NAS, AET steering and national lead plus Assistant Headteacher specialising in the social model of education with sensory issues added in. She presented UK wide at professional autism conferences in an education sphere only.

Despite her success, her own health challenges and differences were not believed. Nor were her children.  She had to medically retire only then receiving her first diagnosis but immediately discharged. She has sat on many Charities and Boards locally and nationally even voluntarily leading out her idea and content for the hypermobility education school toolkit, but knew there was something missing. She knew from her many years of working and being different something was missing not being connected and that there must be other people like her.  She presented in education, health , social carer, carers UK and many other conferences on neurodivergence or sensory issues from UK , USA to Australia

As founder and Chair of SEDSConnective, Jane now leads efforts to support neurodivergent individuals, organisations  with hypermobility, GJH EDS HSD associated conditions and neurodivergence, driving change in education, health, care, work and beyond.

Founding SEDSConnective

Jane volunteered for other groups and charities, but felt there must be other people who were both neurodivergent and with hypermobility ( EDS/HSD). So she started SEDSConnective in 2018 in Sussex with no money, connections and little belief but a huge passion to make a difference and ensure better outcomes for all humanity

The voluntary group grew and is now a charity with global reach. People have resonated with the ethos of a collective doing it for themselves but also constructively connecting where possible with others and allied professionals. This is key to equality and equity.

Advocacy, Media & Speaking Engagements

Jane was non-Executive Director, the first neurodivergent Trustee at SCIE,  co-production DEI&B Boards and Carers Boards for many years. She was co-Chair of the Strategic Oversight Group of the OMMT and work autism expert group,  other forums nationally. She is demand as a keynote speaker worldwide from Australia, USA Europe and was the keynote closing speaker at the Global Learning Conference in Dublin. She present on webinars, podcasts radio and plus press media as a spokesperson.  She is a regular presenter at Government thinks tanks on education, SEND, EBSA health/care and also a speaker in psychiatry symposiums.

She has contributed over 30 education press articles and publications. She has appeared in the press and on TV (BBC News) as a spokesperson, as well as on LBC, Radio 4 Inside Health, Channel 5 and Teacher Talk Radio and BBC radio.  She has also been interviewed on many webinars, podcasts promoting the issues of hypermobility and neurodivergence.
